Whatever the reason, taking screenshots is always useful. Just imagine yourself chatting with someone online and you have to explain where he can find a certain button on an interface. BastaPix is a collection of screen tools that can come in handy in most situations. It contains more than simple screenshot tools. At first, they may seem like some gimmicks you probably won't use, but you might stumble in a situation when they will save you valuable time.

The 3.29 Mb download shouldn't be a difficult task for most Internet connections. Installing the software involves specifying a destination path and clicking a few Next buttons. There's nothing else to it.

BastaPix's main features are accessible via buttons from the toolbar. First, you can find a magnifying tool with a pretty good zoom capability which can be adjusted using a simple slider. The zoomed image will be shown on the main window's bottom half and it will follow the mouse cursor. Above it you can find the coordinates of your mouse which you can set to pixels, inches, centimeters and other measuring units. You can magnify an area when using any other tool, but the zoomed image will be smaller instead of ocupying half of the interface.

The screenshot tool is the second one on the toolbar. When accessing it, the interface will look the same as when you're using the magnifying tool. The difference is that the bottom half is reserved for captured images. In the options area you can opt for capturing tools like a rectangle, rounded rectangle, ellipse or a custom shape. Alternatively, you can capture a window or the entire desktop.

The third main feature of the program is a gauge set. Here you will find some screen measuring tools. You can measure your screen using a line tool, rectangle and other shapes. When clicking one, a grid will be placed over the entire screen. After clicking and dragging, using one of the measuring tools, the bottom half of the interface will fill with details, such as the distance over which you've clicked and dragged, the angle, slope and so on.

Another feature of BastaPix is a color picker. Hover with the mouse cursor over a color anywhere on the screen, hit the designated hotkey and the color will be saved in the interface. You can then export the saved colors to your web browser, clipboard or a specified file. A final tool you can find in this box of tricks is a ruler for your screen. It's fully resizable and you can use it to measure anything on your screen.
